Our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

MatrixMaterials – an international solution

StabilCo is proud to be creating and supplying infrastructure solutions which are not only more cost effective and superior in performance, but which are sustainable. Our major focus is to present a strong, credible value proposition to the market: price, performance, productivity and an environmentally-friendly alternative to conventional options.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals are an intergovernmental set of goals aspiring to achieve the United Nations’ Post 2015 Development Agenda. There are 17 goals, with a total of 169 targets, covering a broad range of sustainable development issues. These issues include making cities more sustainable, combating climate change and protecting natural resources. This is where StabilCo comes in.

Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

The innovative technology behind MatrixMaterials is a result of more than 15 years of research and development in science and engineering. StabilCo’s purpose-designed 100% waste mixes are engineered to outperform traditional pavements and provide a full life-cycle solution. Best of all, they effectively neutralise the strongest enemy of long life roads and infrastructure: water, resulting in resilient, lasting infrastructure.

Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

Stabilco ’s work towards improved construction of road,  transport and associated leisure  infrastructure such as cycleway, parks and sporting fields  enhances the safety and quality of life of our communities and contributes towards the goal of embedding sustainability and resilience into urban and regional infrastructure.

Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Using 100% waste to produce MatrixMaterials supports the Responsible Consumption and Production Goal by:

  • delivering a superior, sustainable product that meets the major procurement drivers of price and performance
  • meeting rising community expectations for responsible procurement and achieves environmental regulators’ goals to divert materials from landfill and preserve virgin rock resources
  • enabling entities to practice sustainability and participate in the circular economy in a simple, easy and uncomplicated way.

Goal 13 – Climate Action

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Through MatrixMaterials innovation, Stabilco has reduced the greenhouse gas emissions associated with building roads and pavement infrastructure by almost 50%. Each piece of infrastructure built using MatrixMaterials reduces the carbon footprint of infrastructure construction, helps Australia meet international commitments to greenhouse emission reductions, and ultimately means our planet is better off.

Goal 15 – Life on Land

Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

By using 100% waste, StabilCo prevents the depletion of quarrying reserves and prevents land degradation that results from mining of the virgin quarried rock that composes alternatives. Repurposing wastes means reducing the ever-increasing footprint landfill leaves on our earth. StabilCo enables this landfill-diversion and provides an incentive for entities to give their waste a new life by accepting their waste, thereby reducing their waste disposal costs. StabilCo also provides land rehabilitation options for mining companies, and has specialist applications for landfill lining to prevent leachate migration.

Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development

StabilCo reaches across several industry sectors. Materials are sourced from profile companies in waste and recycling, industry and manufacturing, mining and exploration, municipal, utility and chemical facilities. Through product sales, we engage with state road and rail authorities, local councils, construction contractors and property developers. As sourcing waste local to production reduces both environmental and financial costs, we are constantly creating new partnerships in new areas, while strengthening existing ones as repeat-custom unfolds.
We are constantly exploring new opportunities to partner with those who will be allies in the future of sustainable infrastructure.
